Research on Women's Issues

The departements of Women's Studies at the Flemish Universities conduct their own research:

• Antwerp:reseach women's studies
• Gent: centre for genderstudies
• Leuven: centre for equal opportunities and diversity
• Hasselt: research en publications on equal opportunities and women

To support the policy of Equal Opportunities, the Belgian governments subsidizes two agencies for research:

Steunpunt Gelijke Kansen (Centre for Equal Opportunities)

The Centre for Equal Opportunities advises the Flemish Goverment on the field of equal opportunities. A summary and reports of their research are available at their site.

SOPHIA - Belgian Coordination Network of Women's Studies

Sophia aims at stimulating research and education in women's studies, while establishing contacts between the Dutch-and Frenchspeaking communities in Belgium and between the women's movement and the academic world.
Sophia offers a database of Belgian research on their site. The site is available in french and dutch.
